Creating the contents |
Before editing the contents of the public authority or e-Government website, which have been structured according to the life situations system, several conditions must be met:
Only when a concept defines clear structures and navigation can an editorial
staff involving several persons efficiently edit the contents.
Style guides, wording guides maintained by the content editorial staff are a key source for
consistent quality. Without a concept chaos is bound to result.
Content editing depends on project partners who usually work in different or
other administrative offices and departments. Only if these partners are motivated and actively
informed by the content team in the course of the work will they support the project.
And only if the editorial staff is set up in such a way that the provision of best possible
information for citizens becomes the primary objective and not merely a priority for one or the
other governmental office, will they receive the necessary support.
The clocks of public authorities tick differently than those of private enterprises.
Not faster or slower, nor better or worse, just differently.
The content staff must be familiar with the do´s & don'ts when dealing with authorities and
take them into account in their every-day work. Non-compliance and ignorance lead to friction and
conflicts within the project.
Proofreading, co-ordinated release procedures and running a clear project management
are indispensable for quality assurance.
Yes, the content staff and some public authorities also make mistakes, but they can usually be
reduced to a minimum and prevented by using tried-and-tested procedures.
We did not make up any of this, we speak from experience. And we have learned a
good deal doing it for several years.
